The Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Pageant is an annual event that began in 2006. It is open to young women ages 17 to 24 who reside or attend school in Hawaii County, and who have not competed in any other preliminary pageant leading to the Miss America or Miss USA Pageants within the past year. Contestants must be single (never married, never had a marriage annulled) and cannot be pregnant or have ever been pregnant.

Judging follows the criteria set forth by the Miss America Organization. Each contestant is given a score from 1 – 10 immediately following each phase of competition with the highest and lowest scores being discarded. A list with the contestants with the top 5 highest scores are then given to the judges for final ranking. The categories and their percentages towards the overall score are:
Private Interview – 25%
Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimsuit – 15%
Talent – 35%
Evening Wear – 20%
On-Stage Question – 5%
Winners of this November’s Miss Kona Coffee, Miss Aloha Hawaiʻi, and Miss Kona Coffee’s Outstanding Teen will represent Hawaiʻi Island at the statewide pageant on Oʻahu at the Miss Hawaiʻi and Miss Hawaiʻi’s Outstanding Teen Pageants in 2023. We hope you come to visit Kona soon!
